Worse, the activation’s hidden behind an arcane process that’s never made obvious to end users. And get this: Switching to the discrete GPU bumps the PowerSpec 1710’s display refresh rate from the default 60Hz up to 75Hz. (No such luck on the PowerSpec 1510, alas.) I’ve never seen a laptop configured this way and honestly, the only reason I puzzled out the solution was because I saw an Intel graphics option while right-clicking the desktop and was savvy enough to recognize what that indicated. It’s not consumer-friendly whatsoever. Brad Chacos/IDG The PowerSpec 1710. Once you’ve gotten that all squared away, the results are spectacular.

There's really no other way than Utilities > Version Info to tell what you have and FlashForge / Microcenter chose to change that to something meaningful only to them. This caused a few missing heartbeats but it did not break my motherboard, it just never flashed. I formatted the flashdrive to fat32 as many websites say but nothing worked. I placed the files on the root of the flash drive and could see them but selecing them would freeze the bios. (Whew!) Brad Chacos/IDG Ports of the left edge of the PowerSpec 1710. Ports are handled differently on the larger PowerSpec 1710. You (thankfully) don’t find any connections on the rear. On the left edge, there’s power, HDMI, a pair of Mini-DisplayPorts, a pair of USB 3.1 ports, and a single USB 3.1 Type-C connection complete with Thunderbolt 3 support.

Again, I have been running this unit for months with no issue. I use Simplify 3D for my MAC as the creator for the.stl files. Did something get messed up in my firmware? Or maybe I changed a setting in Simplify 3d. I don't know and now have become very frustrated. I have reset my unit to factory settings, but no change.

Once you’ve gotten that all squared away, the results are spectacular. Both Micro Center notebooks boast vivid displays with wide viewing angles. The PowerSpec 1510 is no slouch with its better-than-average 317 nits of brightness, but the PowerSpec 1710 maxes out at an eye-searing 411 nits—easily one of the brightest displays we’ve seen, alongside the and monstrous. With G-Sync active, gaming on these displays with the GTX 1070’s raw power is nothing short of glorious. The big difference: Physical design The PowerSpec laptops rely on Clevo cases. These are classic big, heavy gaming laptops—though far from the heaviest we’ve seen. Both designs sport a slick-looking (and fingerprint-prone) black casing, but differ greatly in other aspects.

But a Google search of G43T-AM v: 2.0 will produce a link which shows it is the MOBO used in the Acer Aspire M3802. So by going to, you will find a bios update. Just make sure it's the same MOBO before using the Acer BIOS update. But generally speaking, if the computer works and you are not missing any features, or do not require any added features or fixes in the updated BIOS firmware, there really is no need to update it. @Brains, thanks for the response and checking out those links.

Another option I've never needed nor tried may be available right in your package manager (apt, yum, dnf, zypper, etc.):. Excellent guess. A clue, in case you didn't already know: its size is 1 times 2^20 (=1M; =1048576), while the.BAT file to execute the flash while running DOS is named flash1M.bat. Details about BiosDisk I can't help with, since I've never needed nor used it. Can help with that, but I don't use it either. BiosDisk ----> Usage To use the biosdisk utility to create a BIOS flash image, first download the latest raw BIOS image for your system from your manufacturer's website. Make sure however, that you always get the BIOS executable and NOT the Windows executable. You then have one of two options: create a ISO or install the image for your bootloader. The mkimage action will create a ISO image on the user's hard drive. Usage is the following: # biosdisk mkimage [-o option] [-i destination] /path/to/.exe The install action will create the biosdisk image, copy the image file to /boot, and then update the bootloader with an entry for the image.

Air intake is from the rear, and underneath. I do highly recommend to use the laptop atop a cooler, or at least raise up the back bottom with say, a rubber eraser. Good airflow from underneath does help, and with a really good one, like the Cooler Master SP-19 I have, which offers good static air pressure, can drop temps around 10C, and not even have to be on High. This can make the unit quieter overall compared to just the system fans.

Extract Boot-Logo out of BIOS Update file Bios-Tool: CBROM v2.15 CBROM, a small software from AWARD (PHOENIX), has functions to read, edit and insert each segments inside a Bios Update file. CBROM works under DOS and the Windows command line. To show all parameters, go to the command line (DOS-Prompt) and insert: 'cbrom215.exe'. First of all we need a Bios Update file to edit the current logo, and the parameter /D to show all ROM segments. In our example we use the BIOS Update file 'N24LD505.BIN' from the DFI mainboard 'LanParty NFII Ultra B'. The input of 'cbrom215.exe n24ld505.bin /D' shows: The picture above shows the small EPA-Logo (EPALogo.bmp) on Pos.10, and the Fullscreen logo (LanParty.bmp) on Pos.11, and also the original and compressed size in kilobytes. EPA-Logo extraction: Extract the small EPA-Logo with 'cbrom215.exe n24ld505.bin /epa extract'.

When FF first started putting those on their motherboards, they didn't have the correct firmware on the USB chip. They sent me one of the boards and I spotted the problem and reported it back to them. But, in theory, they may have let some bots out of the factory with C20 but the incorrect firmware. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's the case. At any rate, I figure there's people with C20 who don't enjoy auto-reset.

But then for Microcenter they reloaded it with something else as you can see from your LCD UI display. > > Makerware gives me this > That's because whatever you have doesn't smell like MBI stock firmware NOR Sailfish 7.6 or earlier. You can load the latest Sailfish EEPROM maps for MakerWare/Desktop by downloading the zip file from the Sailfish Thing at and then installing them as per the directions in the README file within the zip archive. That may work for the firmware you have installed.

My only complaints are, the odd placement of the power cable in between the side exhaust and and HDMI, but it is by no means unmanageable, just a con because I have to manage it at all. Also, the top left surface gets a bit warm (possibly uncomfortable but certainly not hot or burning) near the CPU exhaust, but it is not a place that contains any buttons or a natural resting spot. The fan speed offset has helped.

Hello all, I have a friend who has recently purchased a Powerspec B633 desktop computer. Sometimes, when he boots it up, he'll see what looks like an underscore on his screen. The underscore is solid, it does not blink, and his computer will stall there in the boot up process. The computer must be rebooted in order to boot into Windows. This happens maybe 1 in 3 times when he tries to boot it from a powered off state. The BIOS on the machine has already been updated.

• Locate the driver you are looking for and click Download Driver. • When asked to Run or Save the file, click Run. • Once the file downloads and opens, click OK on the pop up box. • Click Unzip in the WinZip Self-Extractor.

Flashing or upgrading the BIOS will result in the machine not being a PowerSpec anymore and will cause the Windows Activation to fail. As soon as we have these available, we will place them online.

PowerSpec computers, as do all personal computers, have a motherboard inside that provides power and support to every piece of hardware that makes up the entire machine. When your computer is first turned on, a small chip on the motherboard that houses a small piece of software called the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) fires up before anything else and directs the startup processes for the rest of the computer.
